Since this online class seems will continue for a while,
I finally decided to get the a new iPad for students continuing to support me.
This investment of iPad and Apple-pencil does increase my teaching efficiency,
and my students always deserve the best investment for sure:)
Actually CSL teachers had been shocked by having to transfer classes online at the beginning of the epidemic last year, however I have always adhered to the principle of "the simpler the better" and kept reminding myself that "teachers and students" is the core of teaching, and consciously avoided falling into the sea of blooming tools. For more than one year, the set of one computer and one pair of earphone attached with my phone are all my equipments.
Even now, the students are satisfied with the effectiveness of my online class and keep being committed as well. But with the accumulation of experience in online classes, it turns to me feeling a little dissatisfied. Even if I can type quickly, some interactions are still confined to the mouse. I am seeking for more immediate and effective interaction now. Consequently I start to teach with iPad and apple-pencil.
After a few classes, I am very excited and the students are also very satisfied.
Today as having class with an advanced level student who loves Chinese culture, we not only discussed the Analects of Confucius but also shared the experience of epidemic, and even this teaching tool. The fact is all my students like my this "new toy".
There is one Chinese saying from Laozi "Good fortune follows upon disaster while disaster lurks within good fortune". Although I don’t know how long this wave of epidemic crisis will last, I am very grateful that so many people working hard together fighting against the virus.
I am also grateful to all my students for believing in my online teaching capability, and feel blessed to be able to continue doing my favorite things through this small window.
因為這次的線上課看來得要延續好一陣子，
所以我決定為繼續支持我的學生們，
投資一台平板，增進教學效益。
沒錯，因為我的學生值得最好的投資。
雖然華語老師這個族群，在去年疫情初期已先受過震撼教育，
早幾步在與同事好友的互相摸索演練與分享中進入線上教學。
但是我一直都秉持「越簡單越好」的原則，
提醒自己「老師與學生」才是教學的本體，
避免自己栽進繁花似錦的工具海不能自拔。
這一年多來，一台電腦和一副手機附的耳機，
就是我所有的裝備。
即使到現在學生對於我的線上課效能都很滿意，也一樣投入，
但我自己隨著線上課的經驗累積，倒是有些不滿足了。
即便可以快速打字，有些互動透過滑鼠真的還是綁手綁腳，
我想要更即時的有效互動。
於是，就這麼入手了iPad跟apple pencile...
幾堂課下來，我自己很興奮，學生也很滿意。
今天和一位熱愛的中華文化的高級班學生上課，
談論論語，分享疫情，也分享了教學工具。
所有上過課的學生都很喜歡我的「新玩具」，
也當老師的人更喜歡我發現的zoom新功能「消失筆」。
很多事情，都是這樣「禍福相倚」，
我雖然不知道這波疫情危機會持續多久，
但是我很感恩台灣有這麼多人一起努力，
也感恩我的學生相信我的線上教學能力，
讓我透過這方小小視窗，得以繼續做自己最喜歡的事。
