Thankful for the serendipity that connected our paths！

突然發現，今年我有好多學生都要上高中或是大學了。 今天就是我和Chris、Charlie在台灣的最後一堂課，下週Charlie就要回美國上高中了。

這對父子就像過去三年多一樣，從家裡走過來上課， 我也一樣在Charlie開始覺得累的時候準備了巧克力。 Charlie就像過去一樣，嘰嘰呱呱地用中文說著學校、同學們的事。 而我真的很想好好記住這一刻。

這三年來，從一開始地拒絕寫作業，到後來每一課的作業本都老老實實地完成，其實老師並沒有做些什麼。我想是爸爸以身作則帶著孩子學習所起的效用。我做的就是認真地傾聽孩子努力從嘴裡用中文蹦出來的分享，並且真心地覺得有趣，一起哈哈大笑。唯一覺得明顯改變的是Charlie的身高，每個禮拜都肉眼可見的變高，一直到我需要抬頭看他。 謝謝你們帶給我那麼多美好的回憶，給我勇氣創造不同的教學經驗，真心地把我當成朋友對待。 這一切，我都深深感恩。能夠相遇，都是serendipity! 是真心讓一切充滿價值！ 祝福你們回美國後一切順利！

I suddenly realized that so many of my students are moving on to high school or college this summer. And Today was also my last class in Taiwan with Chris and Charlie. Next week, Charlie’s heading back to the U.S. to start high school.

Just like the past three years, this father and son walked over from their home for class—and just like always, while I was having chocolate ready when Charlie started feeling a little tired. And there he was, chatting away in Chinese, telling me all about school and his classmates—just like old times. And I really wanted to hold onto that moment.

Over these three years, Charlie went from refusing to do homework to diligently completing every assignment in his workbook. Honestly, I don’t think I did anything special. I believe it was his dad who made the biggest difference—learning right alongside his son, setting an example. All I did was listen closely as Charlie worked hard to express himself in Chinese, laugh at his funny stories, and genuinely enjoy every bit of it. The one thing that did change? Charlie’s height! Week by week, he just kept growing—and now, I have to look up to talk to him!

Thank you both for all the wonderful memories, for giving me the courage to explore different ways of teaching, and for treating me like a real friend. I’m truly grateful for everything. Our paths crossing—that was serendipity.And your sincerity made it all meaningful.
